Community Radio is a special type of FM radio, non-profit, exclusively educational, cultural, and artistic, with the purpose of propagating the values ​​of our community, created to provide information, culture, entertainment and leisure to small communities.

Thinking about an alternative means of communication in the municipality of Relvado, a group of people from the community articulated for a long time the viability and the possibility of creating a community radio.

This project began on November 14, 2005 with the founding of the Community Association of Communication and Culture of Relvado. Some devices were acquired that had private investments of the associates themselves. These devices were able to put on the air, for the first time, on May 11, 2009, the first vehicle of communication in the municipality.

The radio station was renamed Radio Onda Nova and started to operate at frequency 87.5 FM (frequency that the legislation grants to all community radios). The objective is to offer the community content of a cultural, educational and popular nature. The range of the station covers the municipality of Relvado / RS, a total of approximately 3 thousand people.

The station is kept in the air with the collaboration of the cultural support of the companies of the municipality. "Commercial" programming highlights local small businesses. Making the costs of linking cultural support much cheaper, radio makes it possible to market small shops and services. However, alongside the small supporters who find on the network an opportunity to see their service linked in the media. It does not differentiate or discriminate against any organization, regardless of its percentage of support or social importance.

Community Radio has a history that stands out for its extreme proximity to the community in which it is inserted. Since its foundation, its main concern has always been to value all events and initiatives that involve the community of the municipality, regardless of the extent of the event. This valorization gave the radio importance, credibility and transparency to the people. The main concern is to emphasize the social and informative aspects of the event in question.
