This application contains Election Law Number 7 of 2017 which is used as the basis for the implementation of the 2019 election.

In accordance with the provisions of Article 22E of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, the General Election to elect the President and Vice President, members of the DPR, DPD members and members of the DPRD is held based on direct, public, free, confidential, honest and fair principles every five years once.

The holding of the Election of the President and Vice-President is carried out with the aim of electing the President and Vice-President who obtain strong support from the people so as to be able to carry out the functions of the power of the state government in the framework of achieving national goals as mandated in the Preamble of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.

In addition, the regulation of the presidential and vice presidential elections in this law is also intended to affirm a strong and effective presidential system, in which the elected president and vice president not only gain strong legitimacy from the people, but in order to realize the effectiveness of government as well a support base from the DPR is needed.

Elections of DPR members, DPD members, and DPRD members are held by guaranteeing the principle of representation, which means that every Indonesian citizen is guaranteed to have representatives sitting in representative institutions who will voice the aspirations of the people at every level of government, from
central to the regions, elections which are held directly, publicly, freely, confidentially, honestly and fairly are essential conditions for realizing qualified, trustworthy and able to carry out legislative institutional functions optimally.

Good and quality Election Organizations will increase the degree of healthy competition, participatory, and stronger and more accountable representation.
