The Connection project is a study on neurodevelopment accompanying children throughout the aging path. The goal is to get information and best theoretical models for the promotion of mental health and study of related disorders.

This application follows the mental health of users through indicators such as sleep quality, mood swings and perception of the environment. Thus, a periodic perception in natural environment (ecological) and more consistent measures of the observed contexts is possible. This monitoring protocol is known as ecological momentary assessment.

The measurements are made through an interactive interface, which displays questions and answers stores and send them to the server linked to the study.

The module related to sleep gets reports about the start and end times. The module related to the environment question about surroundings (Closed vs. open) and contact with nature. Questionnaires about mood and affective states are also recorded periodically. Finally, questions about difficulties and strengths are raised based on the questionnaire Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ).

The project, including application development, is funded by public institutions: (1) National Institutes of Science and Technology of CNPQ; (2) FAPESP and (3) European Research Council.
