Shortly thereafter, he moved into the Chandra Leka Orchestra, until finally forming his own band called Soneta which since October 13, 1973 start fluttering. Together with the Soneta group he led, Rhoma was recorded to have received 11 Golden Records from his tapes.

Based on the data of cassette sales, and the number of viewers of the films he starred in, Rhoma fans were not less than 15 million or 10% of the Indonesian population. This is a record until mid-1984. "There is no current type of art that has such a broad scope," wrote TEMPO magazine, June 30, 1984. Meanwhile, Rhoma himself said, "I am afraid of publication. Apparently, I have been dragged away."
