This application allows you to check the correctness of an Italian VAT number by carrying out the following checks:

Verification of the length and format of the VAT Number (11 numerical characters).

Verification of the control character, also called check-digit (11th digit).

Verification and decoding of the Provincial Office that issued the VAT Number (figures from 8 to 10).

After entering the VAT number to be checked just click on the [Check] button and the application will display the following information:

Matriculation number of the taxpayer assigned by the Provincial Office (figures from 1 to 7).

Code and description of the Provincial Office that issued it, specifying if it is a code for "special" uses or an actual office.

Control code and expected value if the one in the VAT number is incorrect.

Warning:
The application does not control the existence of the VAT number in the national tax register and can not display the information on the holder because the Inland Revenue does not provide the relevant WebServices that would allow to automate these controls within the software applications.
At present, on the site of the Inland Revenue there is a page for this type of control where, in addition to VAT, you must enter the anti-spam control code.
