In the early 90s, Hubert Henry Limahelu a.k.a. 'HH5H' (bass), John Paul Ivan a.k.a. 'JPI' (guitar), Roy Jeconiah Isoka Wurangian (vocals) and Peter "Pet" Augusti (drummer) founded a band with the name 'Lost Angels', a wordplay from the name of the city of Los Angeles and at the same time means 'Lost Angels'.

In 1994 they were recruited by the record company Logiss Record. And in March - April 1994 under producer Log Zhelebour at Nirwana Record studio, Surabaya, they worked almost 18 hours a day to record their first album. While completing the recording process of their first album and waiting for the making of the cassette cover, they decided to take out their drummer because his behavior could no longer be in line with the idealism of their group's original goal and overlook personal material.

On May 8, 1994 they agreed to rename Lost Angels to Boomerang which was also the title of their first album released on the market on July 1, 1994 with the hit single "Kasih". Therefore, in making the clip "Love" on the first album, they only appeared in three. To fill the vacancy in the drummer's position when they had to do a tour and concert, they recruited Farid Martin, known to them by Mas Tony, Sound Engineer on the first and second albums of Boomerang. On January 1, 1995 Farid Martin officially became a permanent member of Boomerang.

But in mid-2005, based on "principle differences", JPI chose to leave Booomerang and decided to work alone. JPI formed the super group Trio JPI band along with bassist Bondan Prakoso from Funky Corporal and Cliff as drummers.

As a substitute for JPI, Boomerang had recruited two young Indonesian guitarists, Oi from Power Metal and Tommy guitarist from Riau. Not satisfied with their performance, Boomerang recruited one of Indonesia's reliable guitarists Andry Franzzy who was a former Powerslaves guitarist in early 2006.

Vocalist Roy Jeconiah Hengkang from Boomerang in 2010, also followed by guitarist Andre Franzzy, and in 2012 Roy and Ivan made a new band called RI-1 Band which means stands for Roy and Ivan united.
