Woe from Wit - a comedy in the poems of A. S. Griboedov. It combines elements of classicism and new for the beginning of the XIX century, romanticism and realism. Woe from the mind describes the secular society of serfdom and shows the life of 1808-1824-ies. The very action in the Mountain from the mind occurs ... ten years after the war of 1812, that is, in 1822.

Comedy Woe from Wit - Satyr to the aristocratic Moscow society of the first half of the XIX century - one of the pinnacles of Russian dramaturgy and poetry; actually completed the "comedy in verse" as a genre. The aphoristic style contributed to the fact that she "broke up into quotes."

In the history of Russian literature Griboyedov entered as the author of the first Russian realistic comedy Woe from Wit, although other works written earlier (comedies "Young Spouses", "Student" and others) belong to his pen. Even Griboedov's early plays contained attempts to combine different styles to create a new, but genuinely innovative work was the comedy "Woe from Wit," which in 1825, together with the tragedy "Boris Godunov" Pushkin, opened a realistic stage in the development of Russian literature.
