The history of the establishment of the Anatolia News Agency coincided with the beginning of the establishment of the Turkish Republic. The Agency was established on April 6, 1920, 17 days before the inauguration of the Great National Assembly (Parliament). After the opening of the Parliament, the Agency took over the publication of the laws it approved at that time. It also witnessed the stages of the Turkish War of Independence , And all events that followed the establishment of the Republic.

The Agency had a role in the construction of the Turkish Republic, and it was published on all the Turkish provinces. The decision of Mustafa Kemal (later known as Ataturk) would meet in Ankara to establish the National Assembly after the Ottoman parliament, then known as the Council of Envoys, 1920). One of the things that helped establish the agency was that most intellectuals saw the impossibility of staying in Istanbul under those circumstances. They looked for ways to catch up with the national struggle.

The idea of ​​establishing the Anatolia Agency was coincidental when she met journalist and writer Khaleda Adib with Yunus Nadi (Abalioglu) at a train station on their way to Ankara to catch up with Ataturk and his friends there. They agreed that the first thing they should do was to set up a Turkish news agency. Several names were put forward for the launch of the agency to be established. The proposed names were the Turkish Agency, the Ankara Agency and the Anatolia Agency. After consultations, everyone agreed on the name of the Anatolia Agency, which is still in use.

At its residence in Ankara, the issue of the establishment of the Agency was presented to Ataturk and was on its agenda. The Agency was established on April 6, 1920, after the final decision was taken.

In the Turkish War of Independence, the Agency carried out a very difficult task. As it was mandated to inform Turkey and the world of the Turkish soldiers in the front who were cut off from the outside world. Thus, the Agency contributed to combating the positions of submission and modesty adopted by some international newspapers and some Istanbul newspapers under the pressure of the occupation authorities at that time. The agency also heard the voice of the Turkish National Movement activists abroad to inform world public opinion of Turkey's legitimate rights in its struggle for foreign occupation, and to thwart the plots that were devised by some parties opposed to the project of independence.
On March 1, 1925, a Turkish company was established under the name "Anatolia Agency Company". Mustafa Kemal Ataturk commissioned a group of his colleagues to develop the work of the Anatolia Agency according to the modern standards in Western European countries at the time. The Agency then had an independent status with a distinct institutional system that was not even in European countries.
