Kutch:
The region in which we live is Kutch, and in Sanskrit language it means a “turtle” or “a place surrounded by water”. Geographically Kutch is in fact surrounded by sea and dessert. Unfortunately this beautiful homeland was hit by drought time and again, other natural calamities and scarcity of sources of income other than farming. So after 1870 BC because of all these reasons to run the household and livelihood people travelled overseas for 4 to 5 days with great hardships and came to “Mumbai”, which in those days was considered as a foreign land. Today we have created a prominent impression of our resourcefulness in business, worldwide. Moreover, nationally and internationally to the Kutchi’s have mixed in the society like sugar in milk for long lasting survival. “Kutchi maadu” represents our personality brimming with self esteem and vanity. Our customs and traditions are different so we stand out separate. We are passionate and vital. We hold matchless love for our relatives, family and friends. Our language may sound little impolite but one can find conviction of sweetness and kindness in the conversation. Where so ever we may live but we inherently are helpful to our fellowmen and country with great valour, bravery and generously when a natural calamity or other misery occurs. Because we are originally Kshatriyas we treat even foreigners as our own fellowmen, thus we are famous as “Kutchi maadu” and so we take pride in being “kutchi”.
FOUNDATION OF PRAGPUR - “TORAN BANDHAYA”
About 140 years back, in 1861 BC, Vikram Samvat 2017 on the auspicious day of “Dashera” the 1st King of Kutch, Shri Pragjimal ji laid the foundation of the village with his good hands. (Toran bandhavyu). The village is named “Pragpur” in memory of his highness, the king. Eventually, the kutchi veesa oswal Jain community came from nearby villages and lived here.
Place:
Kutch is one of the largest district of Gujrat, this district consist of 10 Talukas, -Mudra is one of them. Out of about 61 villages of Mundra, this small, beautiful village with spacious and parallel streets is our delightful “Pragpur”!
Gegraphiacal Formation:
In modern times we call it “Town planning” but even in that period construction of parallel and spacious streets along with similar type house plans in construction was taken care of. For visitors and families a different sitting arrangements and provisions for fresh air and sun light was made skillfully in 1number land (appx.32”x64”) with courtyard surrounded by a construction in front and at the back of it. The beautifully constructed houses form a landscaping view. The highway passing from the village is also pollution free and clean like the streets in the village.
Four sides:
Karaghogha is at the North of Pragpur, Kapaya is at the South, Bharora is at the east side and Samaghogha is in the west. All these are connected to the main road with coal tar road. National highway no.8 passes nearby our village from where the ultramodern developed “Adani Port” is apprx.16 km away, Bhuj is 45 km away, Mundra 8 km away, 72 Jain temples are 30 km away, Mandvi 41 km, Bhadreshwar-vasai tirth 25 km, Gandhidham 62 km and Ahmedabad 435 km away.
