Iwan Fals, born Virgiawan Listanto (born in Jakarta, September 3, 1961; 57 years old) is a Ballad, Pop, Rock and Country singer who is one of the legends in Indonesia.
Through his songs, he 'photographed' the social atmosphere of Indonesian life in the late 70s until now, the life of the world in general, and life itself. Criticism of the behavior of a group of people (such as the People's Representative, Tante Lisa), empathy for marginalized groups (such as Siang Seberang Istana, Lonteku), or major disasters that hit Indonesia (or sometimes outside Indonesia, like Ethiopia) dominated the theme of songs he brought. However, Iwan Fals not only sang his own songs but also a number of other creators.

Kharisma of an Iwan Fals is very large. He is very adored by the 'grassroots'. Its simplicity becomes a role model for its fans spread throughout the archipelago. Iwan Fals fanatical fans even founded a foundation on August 16, 1999 which was called the Indonesian People Foundation or commonly known as OI's appeal. This foundation accommodates the activities of Iwan Fals fans. Until now OI branch offices can be found in every corner of the archipelago and some even to foreign countries.
Iwan Fals' childhood or what we usually know as Iwan was spent in Bandung, then in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for 8 months.
