The War of the Worlds is a novel written by HG Wells in 1897 and describing the invasion of aliens (Martians) to Earth. The plot of the novel War of the Worlds was prompted by the writer's brother - the War of the Worlds is dedicated to him. This is the first novel, raising the topic of hostility between humans and aliens.

For the first time the journal text of the novel War of the Worlds appeared in the publication Pearson’s Magazine in April 1897.

Roman War of the Worlds was published as a separate book in February 1898 by Heinemann.

The narration is in the first person of the nameless protagonist of the novel War of the Worlds, a resident of Victorian England in the early 20th century.

Events Wars of the Worlds unfold in London and its surroundings: the towns of Horsell and Woking, Surrey. It all starts with increasing public interest in Mars. A few years before the start of the event, astronomers recorded a strong flare on the surface of Mars. The protagonist of the War of the Worlds visits the observatory and observes celestial bodies approaching from Mars. Further, numerous observers in England notice the fall of celestial bodies on the surface of the Earth, which most people take for meteorites.
