1. Sebagaimana yang diketahui bahawa al-Quran mempunyai sebanyak 30 juzuk, 114 surah dan 6236 ayat. Di antara surah-surah di dalam al-Quran, terdapat satu surah yang paling panjang iaitu Surah al-Baqarah. Sebagai umat Islam, kita wajar menyelami rahsia di sebalik setiap surah dalam al-Quran bagi menghayati isi kandungannya dengan lebih mendalam. Apatah lagi Surah al-Baqarah merupakah surah yang terpanjang di dalam al-Quran, maka setiap individu muslim hendaklah berusaha untuk menyelami rahsia di sebalik isi kandungan surah ini.

2. Surah al-Baqarah mempunyai banyak kelebihan dan keistimewaan seperti yang dinyatakan oleh beberapa hadis. Antaranya ialah hadis nabi saw yang bermaksud: ‘Pelajarilah surah al-Baqarah! kerana mengamalkannya membawa keberkatan, meninggalkannya akan mengundang penyesalan dan ahli-ahli sihir tidak berupaya menguasai pembaca surah ini ( atau mereka sendiri tidak mampu menghafalnya )’.

3. Imam Muslim pula telah meriwayatkan hadis nabi saw yang bermaksud: ‘Bacalah al-Quran! Kerana ia akan datang pada Hari Kiamat sebagai pemberi syafaat kepada pembacanya. Bacalah dua penyeri iaitu surah al-Baqarah dan Ali Imran kerana kedua-duanya akan datang pada Hari Kiamat dalam bentuk dua kelompok awan atau seperti dua kumpulan burung yang terbang berbaris (menaungi pembacanya ), kedua-duanya akan berhujah membela pembacanya. Bacalah surah al-Baqarah kerana membacanya membawa keberkatan, meninggalkannya akan mengundang penyesalan dan ahli-ahli sihir tidak berupaya menguasai pembaca surah ini.”
