Rebus - a joke riddle in which a word or phrase is depicted in the form of drawings in combination with letters, numbers, notes and other signs.
100 Rebus - a game in Russian for children.
Rebuses in Russian combine a graphic and text puzzle. Having certain pictures and letters, you need to understand what they mean and make a conceived word.

For the first time, puzzles like riddles in drawings appeared in the 15th century in France. So called the humorous performances of comedians at the carnival on the topic of the day - with their help, the artists made fun of the vices of society and the powerful in this world. After some time, the French began to call the rebus a pun, built on a play on words. At about the same time, the first painted puzzles appeared. Initially, they literally illustrated the well-known phraseological turnovers, later more complex versions appeared.

The word "rebus" (rebus) is of Latin origin. The French deliberately abbreviated the Latin proverb "Non verbis sed rebus" ("Not with words, but with the help of things") and left only the last word out of it - rebus. Thus, the rebus comes from the form of the Latin word for a thing in the plural.

At the beginning of the 16th century, rebuses penetrated into Germany, England, and Italy. This was largely due to the collection of rebuses, which was composed by the Frenchman Etienne Taburo in 1582. However, only in France, people really loved to solve expressions in hand-drawn pictures, in other countries few people were interested.

Rebuses in Russian came to Russia only by the middle of the XIX century. For the first time, words encrypted in pictures, objects and letters appeared on the pages of the popular magazine Illustration in 1845. The rebuses in Russian, drawn by the artist I. Volkov in the magazine "Niva", were very popular. Later, many children and adults became involved in this activity, turning the puzzle of rebuses into a family evening game.

In 1881, in Russia, the Rebus magazine was published in Russian, in which, besides these fascinating puzzles, interesting articles were published about parenting, psychology, various news from around the world, and fiction. For correctly guessed riddles, puzzles and charades, readers received a small cash bonus. This magazine was very popular and existed for 20 years.
Rebuses in Russian still remain one of the most popular fun.
Periodically new rebuses are added to the game.

The rebus is an encryption that is entertaining. But making a rebus is a mental work. The following rules will facilitate your work:
The name of all the objects depicted in the drawings of rebuses should be read only in the nominative case.
Often the object depicted in the rebus may have several names. For example: eye and eye, leg and paw; or the subject may have one common or one specific name, for example: fish is a common name; carp, crucian carp, pike - a specific name. The ability to correctly name the item depicted in the figure represents one of the main difficulties in deciphering rebuses. To solve the rebus, it is necessary to decipher it in parts, that is, to write down the names of all the depicted letters, figures and numbers in a row, and then divide them into words and compose an encrypted text.
If the object in the rebus is drawn upside down, its name should be read from right to left.
For example, vozovov.
If to the left or to the right of the drawn subject one or two commas, it means that at the beginning or at the end of the word one or two letters should be discarded. So are the puzzles.
Words like before, above, on, under, behind, at, at, o, o, in, as a rule, are not depicted in rebuses as a picture, but are revealed from the corresponding position of letters and pictures.
Such parts of the word as c, k, from, from, to, and you can not depict the picture, but use them as prepositions or conjunctions, indicating the relationship of one element of the rebus to another.
