Body Coordination Test for Children
"Körperkoordinationstest Für Kinder" (KTK)

The Body Coordination Test for Children (KTK) consists of four tests, all aimed at characterizing facets of total body coordination and body domain (Kiphard and Schilling, 1974). It is a homogeneous battery.

KTK uses the same coordination tasks for various ages. For this, the contents of the tasks must present greater difficulties as individuals are older. Differentiation by age, for example, is achieved according to criteria such as:

1. height or distance increase;
2. speed increase;
3. greater precision in the execution, measured, for example, due to the greater number of hits in a given number of attempts (Kiphard, 1976).

In order to achieve better differentiation of results at the lower and upper age limits, the KTK tasks were tested according to various requirements and with various material configurations until they found and proved the best solution. The instructions for performing the test were also reviewed, and for each task the evaluated had the opportunity to perform previous exercises to adapt to the material. The reliability of the battery (r = 0.90) was established by the test / retest correlation method in 1,228 school-age children (Kiphard and Schilling, 1974).
