"Sop Sop and the brain: A mind map tale" is an educational interactive book app designed for tablets.

Follow Sop Sop the kwai kwai though an interactive journey around the brain. Learn about scientifically accurate brain related processes and their correct names.

But it's not all passive reading, it's interactive and surprising too! Tap on characters and see them bounce around and change size. Swoosh them away so you can read the text. Every time you start the app you'll notice that not all is the same, characters will have moved around and some will have grown or shrunk.

Kwai kwai are little creatures that inhabit our head. They were discovered by dr. Thalie who named them after the sound they make when they greet one and other. "kwai" also happens to mean "hello" in the language of the Abenaki people, from whom she is a descendant.

Hi my name is Nathalie Prevost. I am the maker of this app and I hold a doctorate in Cognitive Science. I developed this storybook for parents and kid so they can better understand the complexity of the brain and in so doing, develop an appreciation for the difficulties mental challenges can present.

I wanted to show that everything about the brain is a subtle dance between order and chaos, achieved with our awareness but also with a good dose of randomness, as the interactive aspect of the app will hopefully demonstrate.

This app also features a musical score from SOCAN award winner and Genie award nominee, Rudy Toussaint.
