VirtZither v2 (c) PGBapps, is an app for emulating the Alpine or Psalterform Concert Zither. This is a musical instrument with a twist. Use of orientation sensor and a tilt of the device changes the fingerboard notes, while accelerometer allows for reverberation. Supports fingerboard and accompanyment strings, and alternative chords.
Features:
- Fingerboard strings/notes with tilt/twist of the device.
- Accompanyment strings/notes with function buttons for accompanyment, bass, contra-bass, or chords function.
- Chords function includes many chords in multiple scales and major/minor keys.
- Informational About This Application help from the device menu button.
- Reverb slider setting to adjust reverb sensitivity or turn on/off reverb. Press a note button and shake the device.
- Fingerboard tilt/twist slider on/off setting which also changes the fingerboard position.
- Visible displays showing reverb and sensitivity, and fingerboard position (from tilt or slider).
- Settings include display mode on/off or partial, and throttle level for adjusting to older devices.
- Settings also include string touch single or double, reverb Y or X **** to adjust for smartphones and tablets.
- Settings further include alpine or psalterform selection, and audio method for use with older devices.
Instructions:
The app is written to be played holding the device horizontally, and tilting/twisting the device up/down (along the Y or long ****, or X **** on some devices) to change the fingerboard notes, and to gently shake the device left/right to enable reverb. Example usage, is shown in our youtube.com videos:

Device Recommendations:
This app has been tested with Android Jellybean, IceCreamSandwich, and Froyo, but is best recommended for JellyBean and KitKat devices. The settings for display mode, throttle level and audio method are provided to help with older devices as needed. High throttle equals lower processing for the app on the device, along with minimizing display output.
About the Alpine Zither:
The Alpine Zither is like a Guitar in that it has a fingerboard (also known as a fretboard), however unlike a Guitar where the fingerboard is part of the long neck, the fingerboard is build right into the body of the instrument. Also unlike a Guitar, there are up to three sets of accompanyment strings which are not fretted. Another type of zither known as the Guitar Zither, actually has no fingerboard at all, and is a different instrument. According to Wikipedia, the word citara is derived from the Greek word kithara, an instrument from classical times ... the word guitar derives from qithara as well.
