Gradations of darkness and light characterize the images of the Way of the Cross to the light. Few elements appear in the photography paintings by Ben Willikens: Minimalist and simple, yet precise and warm, they open the inner spaces of darkness within us for encounter and touch.

The rooms of the Stations of the Cross are the places where, with our lives, we can meet Jesus on his way of the cross and where he travels with us. The spaces in the pictures are places of our own soul, places of our fears, worries, needs, our brokenness, our suffering, our despair, our emptiness and our yearning.

This is what the lyrics of the Way of the Cross say to the light: You, Jesus, have gone the way through the darkness, and you, man, who see these images, know your dark moments. But it is getting light in the middle of our darkness. More spaces arise for God's light and to hear God. Through communion with Jesus, death is history. And into every darkness of our lives today, this light penetrates.

To Ans light belong all stations of a classical crossroads, because like our inner experiences they are not solvable, but interact. Like the not cold but cool pictures, the content, texts, prayers of Ans Licht are minimalist and insistent at the same time.

The Light offers a lot of possibilities, suggestions and additions to make your own: a separate service, a series of prayers through the Lenten and Passion, a series of events of Friday prayers, liturgical nights, school or Unigottesdienste or retreats throughout the year. The texts invite creative interaction, can be creatively edited, lengthened or shortened and adapted to the situations, life contexts and prayer requests of the group. The music also opens up two options, a co-sing and a sing variant, as well as a soundtrack-like background music.

All content is in the newly revised interactive app AnsLicht on Android and iOS, it allows the prayer in the group with the pictures, texts and music, but can also be used as a personal prayer app for home and on the road.

Founded in 1958 as a Catholic, German-German youth project, ecumenical since 1972, today almost 60,000 participants a year, especially in Lent and the traditional date on the Friday before Palm Sunday, it is one of Europe's largest youth events.
