In the heart of all human beings, without distinction of race or social position, there is an unspeakable longing for something that they do not now possess.

This desire is implanted in the very constitution of man by a merciful God, so that man does not feel satisfied with his present condition, whether bad or good.

God wants the human being to seek the best, and find it in the eternal good of his soul.

In vain do men seek to satisfy this desire with pleasures, riches, comfort, fame, or power.

Those who try to do so discover that these things make the senses, but leave the soul as empty and unhappy as before.

It is the design of God that this yearning of the human heart leads to the only one who is capable of satisfying it. It is a desire of that Being, capable of guiding him, the fullness and fulfillment of that desire.

That fullness is found in Jesus Christ, the Son of the eternal God. "For it pleased the Father that the fullness of all should reside in him;" "for in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily."

And it is also true that "you are complete in him" with respect to all desire divinely implanted and usually followed. The prophet Haggai rightly calls Christ "the Desire of all nations."

It is the purpose of this book to present Jesus Christ as the One in whom all longing can be fulfilled.

Many books have been written entitled "The Life of Christ," excellent books, great stores of information, elaborate essays on chronology, history, customs, and contemporary events, with abundant teaching and many glimpses of the multifaceted life of Jesus of Nazareth. However, not even half have been said about her.

Nor is the purpose of this work to expose a harmony of the Gospels, or to present in strictly chronological order the important events and the wonderful lessons of the life of Christ; his purpose is to present the love of God as revealed in his Son, the divine beauty of the life of Christ, of which all can participate, and not simply satisfy the desires of mere curiosity or the observations of critics.

But as by the charm of his own character beauty Jesus attracted his disciples to himself, and by his touch and feeling of sympathy in all his ailments and needs, and by his constant association, he transformed his characters from earthly to heavenly, from selfish in self-sacrificing, and exchanged the petty ignorance and prejudice in the generous knowledge and the deep love for the souls of all nations and races, it is the purpose of this book to present the blessed Redeemer in a way that helps the reader to come to him as a living reality, with which intimate and vital communion can be had, and find in him, like the disciples of antiquity, the mighty Jesus, who "saves to the utmost," and transforms according to his own divine image to those who come to God through him.

We pray that the blessing of the Most High may accompany this work, and may the Holy Spirit make the words of this book words of life for many souls whose longings and desires are not yet satisfied; so that they may "know him, and the virtue of his resurrection, and the participation of his sufferings," and finally, in a blessed eternity, share at his right hand the fullness of his joy and the immeasurable joy that all those who have found in him will enjoy. he the all in all, "the most appointed among ten thousand," He who "is altogether kind," "all he covetable."
