Are your people safe?

Working alone carries risks. Staff are especially likely to be threatened, harassed or assaulted because of the location and nature of the work.

Your employees need a simple way to raise the alarm and tell you where they are.

That’s Kite—Duress Alarm.

Kite is a clear, unambiguous signal that help is needed. Staff can activate the signal on their phones. Or you can agree on a schedule of check ins. If they miss one, the alarm is raised.

When the alarm is raised you will be notified with an alert on your phone and through the web portal. Your employee’s phone will send location information and update it until they are safe. No location data is collected unless the alarm is activated, safe-guarding privacy and preserving battery life.

Install the app on the staff phone

Kite is not a special device. You and your colleagues install the app on your work phones, while access and notifications are managed through the web portal.

Make it easier to exercise your duty of care

The Commonwealth Work Health and Safety Regulations 2011 requires your organisation to manage the risks associated with working alone and have an effective way of communicating with your workers when they need help.

Kite makes it easier to do this by automating the collection of critical information about who, what, where, when and how long your employee will be engaged with a client, when the alarm is raised. It also automates reminders, notifications and escalation—crucial steps in your business process. If the alarm is raised key contacts are notified with an SMS and critical information goes straight to the management portal cutting down response time and reducing the cost of miscommunication.

It’s also easier for employees. With Kite on their phone they can change check-in intervals and raise the alarm with a simple tap or swipe.

Kite is not tied to a third-party security service. The duress alert goes to your designated manager and key contacts, who then activate your organisation’s rescue procedure, whether that’s in-house or contracted out.

Last but not least, with Kite there is no large capital expense for hardware or service. It’s a monthly subscription based on the number of employees using the app.

Safety not surveillance

Kite has one simple function: to make it easier for an employee to raise the alarm and for you to find them. You can assure your employees that data will not be collected about their location or movements unless the alarm is raised.

Reporting

Logs of time and location data can be made available to improve your risk management practices or for legal purposes.

Making Kite fly higher

We’ve consulted widely across different sectors to design a Kite that would meet the challenges lone workers face. We’ve also designed it so that it’s easy for you—both staff and managers—to give us feedback. Together, we’ll make it better.
