This game is a simple style game which might take you back to your childhood, especially if you were a kid of the 80’s. This game came about when I was teaching for a college and I did a workshop on showing how to code spawning NPC’s. I have too much fun coding and had way too much fun showing students how to code a simple system that I decided it would be a fun small game to develop. So When Pigs Fly was born! The full name of the game is Learn to Code…When Pigs Fly! The reason behind this is I have come across many students utterly scared to code especially when they reached the coding unit. I wanted to show students that it’s not as bad as it sounds and you can have a lot of fun coding. Since I was 11 years old I wanted to become a Computer Programmer so one day I too could develop my own games and have fun doing so. I will admit I’m not good at playing games, as much as I absolutely love playing games, but I have more fun making them. This simple game only took a couple of weeks to develop with the help of my awesome husband who modeled and textured the main enemy, Peter Trotter! This also has an Australian theme and what that is you will see with the player character and the vehicle he is in which was modeled and textured by myself including the player character, Benedict Eggsly.
When Pigs Fly is a simple cartoon style game that allows you as the player to have a bit of fun, fly around a level, stay alive as long as possible, shoot down the enemy, collect extra points when they are dropped (not always is a pickup dropped), and try and beat the highest score. You are given 2 maps to pick from. One is a canyon style game so you are confined to the canyon itself, and it does make it a bit harder to turn to shoot the enemy if they come up from behind you. You have the canyon walls to try and avoid otherwise it could turn you into a spin! The second level is more open and depicts a paradise with trees, foliage, and a nice lake in the middle. It is easier to turn and shoot the enemy from behind as you don’t have the canyon walls to try and avoid. For both levels there is a height limit and if you do happen to hit the force field, keeping you contained, you will start to lose a little health. If you happen to start to spin out of control due to the enemy clipping you, or you have hit the force field or the landscape, use the buttons to even yourself out. Please also note on starting any of the levels you may start out with lots of enemies or little as it has been designed to vary and the increase of the enemies spawning are also varied so you won't get the same result each time!
So if you want an old fashioned game where it’s as simple as being in a level and shooting the bad guys and trying to beat your score…then this is the game for you! If you are waiting for a train, bus, even lining up to attend a concert and want something to do, then start up this game and let the time go by as you shoot the enemy from the sky and survive as long as you can!
