This app contains Chapter 1 from the Book of Micah in the Bible's Old Testament (Micah 1). The prophecy of Micah 1 foretells the upcoming destruction of Samaria and Jerusalem as a result of God's Judgement for their multitude of sins. The passage includes Prophet Micah's corresponding lament, ending with the prediction of the Neo-Assyrian siege and capture of the Israelite Kingdom of Samaria, as well as the later Babylonian captivity or exile of the tribes of Israel and Judah. The text used is from the King James Version (KJV).

Who was Prophet Micah?
Micah was a Jewish prophet who prophesied from about 737-696 BCE in Judah, and is the author of the Old Testament Book of Micah. He is classified as one of the twelve "minor prophets" of the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible) and was a contemporary of Isaiah, Amos, and Hosea. Micah was from Moresheth-Gath in southwest Judah, and prophesied during the reigns of kings Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah of Judah. Micah’s messages were directed primarily toward Jerusalem. He prophesied the future destruction of Jerusalem and Samaria, the destruction and future restoration of the Judean state, and rebuked the people of Judah for dishonesty and idolatry. His prophecy that the Messiah would be born in the town of Bethlehem is cited in the New Testament Gospel of Matthew.
