The original Spectrum Live Wallpaper and still the best!

NEW! Try the free version of this app, ZXSpectrum Live Wallpaper Lite.

In the 1980s, there were the 8-bit home micro computers. One of the most popular of these, at least in the U.K., was the Sinclair ZX Spectrum.

Relive the nostalgic, glory days of computing by selecting from thousands of pictures on World of Spectrum website from within the app. Classic games such as Jetpac and Jet Set Willy.

ZX Spectrum Live Wallpaper is a way of re-living the 80's.
Sinclair ZX Spectrum loading screens can be shown as if they are loading from tape. Images can be obtained from different sources,

World Of Spectrum
Camera
Gallery
LIVE Spectrum Camera Mode!!

Images can be used as they are (full colour) or "Spectrumized" into 256x192x8 colours. There is also the feature to convert the live camera image into Spectrum style graphics in realtime (better on high end devices).

Select pictures of yourself and see how you would look on a Spectrum! Select existing pictures from the gallery.

Pictures are randomly chosen from list you set up and loaded as if on a real ZX Spectrum. Try watching the live wallpaper without making the noises!

Try it! Even if you don't know what a Spectrum is but just want an unusual way of using pictures in your gallery as a live wallpaper.

Want to try this app for free? Try the Lite version.

More camera stability improvements.

Improve memory usage when selecting image from the gallery to stop crash on lower end devices.

V1.40
Reduce battery consumption.

V1.41
Minor crash protection fix.

V1.42
Fixed crash on some devices.

V1.5
Implemented previous image scrolling to address the fact that the image doesn't take up the full screen on portrait devices. Note, I have also changed the default image position to the bottom of the screen, this makes the scrolling seem more natural.
Also fixed long-standing potential crash (that was showing up on jellybean) where a source GIF wasn't being decoded correctly.

V1.61

As requested, added the option to show flashing border when waiting for the next picture to load.
Updated Target SDK.
