In this post, I am going to show you how to install Swiss Relief on Windows PC by using Android App Player such as BlueStacks, LDPlayer, Nox, KOPlayer, ...

Below you will find a detailed step-by-step guide, but I want to give you a fast overview of how it works. All you need is an emulator that will emulate an Android device on your Windows PC and then you can install applications and use it - you see you're playing it on Android, but this runs not on a smartphone or tablet, it runs on a PC.

Step By Step Guide To Install Swiss Relief using BlueStacks

  1. Download and Install BlueStacks at: https://www.bluestacks.com. The installation procedure is quite simple. After successful installation, open the Bluestacks emulator. It may take some time to load the Bluestacks app initially. Once it is opened, you should be able to see the Home screen of Bluestacks.
  2. Open the APK/XAPK file: Double-click the APK/XAPK file to launch BlueStacks and install the application. If your APK/XAPK file doesn't automatically open BlueStacks, right-click on it and select Open with... Browse to the BlueStacks. You can also drag-and-drop the APK/XAPK file onto the BlueStacks home screen
  3. Once installed, click "Swiss Relief" icon on the home screen to start using, it'll work like a charm :D

Customize the look of the Swiss relief, overlaying information such as altitude, slope and exposition. Modify the color band limits and colors, display information such as cities, municipalities, peaks and alpine huts.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
The app includes the entire altitude information between the 45th and the 48th parallels and the 5th and the 11th meridians at a resolution of 1 arc second. This results in a large amount of data, i.e. more than 500 MB. Hence do not try to install the app if you do not have sufficient internal memory.

Gestures:
- Single-tap to center map at current location (GPS must be turned on)
- Double-tap to center map at a new location
- Dragging with one finger moves the map
- Zooming with pinch gesture (pinch-out: zoom-in, pinch-in: zoom-out)

Modifying color bands (altitude, slope and fog):
- Tap and drag on a number to move the band up or down, the band can at most be moved up to the neighboring number, where the focus is switched to the neighboring band, which can then be moved furter
- Double-tap on a number to modify the color above the number

Modifying colors (exposition):
- Double-tap the color ring in the direction desired to modify the color of this direction
