With Chess Variations, you can play many different variations of traditional chess. Let yourself be surprised by a randomly generated variation with slightly altered chess rules or build your own complex variation. Save variations that you want to play again. Chess Variations also offers a number of predefined variations such as Princess Chess, Capablanca Chess and more.

With just a slight variation of the chess rules, your opening strategy and chess data bases are of little help. Show that you know how to play chess well for more reasons than knowing certain opening strategies better than your opponent, but because you can adjust quickly to a change in the traditional game of chess.

One variation can be an alteration of a rule, a change of the board dimensions, or a piece with new move options. Some of the used variations have been invented or prompted by grandmasters. The number of move options throughout the entire match can be greater or smaller in a variation when compared to traditional chess. Respectively, the time of a match can be longer or shorter.

You can play a mix of the individual variations: For instance, you can play losing chess (you can capture your own pieces) on a larger board with two additional princesses (a hybrid figure that has the movement of the bishop and the knight combined) or you can play a game of nuclear chess (when capturing an opponent chess piece, not only that piece, but all pieces (no matter what colour!) on adjacent fields are removed.) with a maharaja (a hybrid figure that has the movement of the queen and the knight combined) or… the list goes on and on. In total, Chess Variations supports more than 600 billion variations of traditional chess. Chess 960 variants are included.

Play with two people on your phone, practice alone with AI, or play on your phone against your opponent through the internet. During network play you can chat with your opponent.

App in English with help system.
