This app was designed by myself, a 20-year-old medical student from Taiwan!
I designed this app to provide a SYSTEMATIC view of Parasitology as a study guide for students, such as myself, to master this field. This is facilitated by 3 main features (also demonstrated in the screenshots):

1. SEARCH:

(1) Search by parasites:
Select a parasite from the list to access all information about that parasite (e.g. infective form, intermediate hosts (IH), final hosts (FH), pathology, diagnosis, treatment, etc.).

(2) BACKWARD SEARCH:
Use the in-app search engine for your personalized parasite database. Select a category (e.g. pathology or diagnosis) and enter your query, which generates a list of corresponding parasites.

2. EDIT YOUR OWN DATABASE:

Flexible to your needs/study focus, app users can EDIT THEIR OWN DATABASE.
In Pocket Parasitology, you can:
(1) Edit a parasite (94 parasites are included by default).
(2) Add a new parasite to your database.
(3) Delete a parasite from your database.
(4) Add a new column to your database.
For example, if you’re interested in the size of each parasite (which is not included by default), you can simply add a “Size” column in your database and input the data.
(5) Delete a column from your database.
(6) Restore any of the 94 parasites included by default after deletion.
(7) Reset any one parasite included by default.
(8) Reset the entire database.

3. QUIZ:

Quiz is perhaps the most crucial part for student users. Don’t worry. Pocket Parasitology can generate infinite quizzes based on your study focus. Quiz questions are randomly generated from your database for the content (columns) that you specify. It is also possible to assign weight to certain parasites/columns to increase the probability of their appearance in the quiz. After you finish a quiz, you can see the DETAILED ANSWER to each question and select which questions to store in your QUESTION BANK.

DISCLOSURE: Although I have done my best to validate the accuracy of the default database, I am still a student (not an expert) and I am not infallible. The best way to make use of this app, therefore, is to incorporate your knowledge of Parasitology in your personal database, utilizing the design functions. With this flexibility, I am confident that Pocket Parasitology will be a highly useful study companion or reference guide!

Best regards,

Einsambr
