‘Steam Thermophysical Properties’ generates accurate thermodynamic and transport properties of water and steam. It is an essential reference for students, colleges, universities, researchers, scientists, engineers and professionals.

‘Steam Thermophysical Properties’ implements IAPWS-IF97, revised formulation 2007. It requires Android 2.3.3 or above.

IAPWS standards and the ASME Steam Tables:

The "ASME Steam Tables" many people are familiar with is a book first published in 1967, with accompanying software in later editions. The thermodynamic properties in the 1967 ASME Steam Tables book were calculated from a formulation for industrial use known as IFC-67, which was developed and adopted as a standard by the international organization that later became IAPWS. The ASME Steam Tables was just one of many books produced from this international standard.

However, the IFC-67 formulation is now officially obsolete, having been replaced in late 1997 by a new formulation known as IAPWS-IF97. IAPWS-IF97 is now the international standard for calculations in the steam power industry. As a result, the ASME has produced a replacement for the 1967 book, titled ‘ASME International Steam Tables for Industrial Use.’ This book has tables based on the new IAPWS-IF97 formulation. Steam tables books based on IAPWS-IF97, is equally consistent with current IAPWS standards, have also been produced in the Czech Republic, Germany, Japan, and Russia.

Property Generation:

The thermodynamic properties density, specific volume, enthalpy, specific internal energy, entropy, specific isobaric heat capacity, specific isochoric heat capacity are calculated for water, steam and saturated mixtures. Pressure may be entered in the Units of bara, barg, Pa, KPa, MPa, kg/m2, psia and lbf/ft2. Temperature may be entered in the Units of C, K, F and R.

The property generator follows the revised formulation in 2007 of ‘IAPWS Industrial Formulation 1997 for the Thermodynamic Properties of Water and Steam.’ The formulation provided in this release is recommended for industrial use.

The transport properties speed of sound, dynamic viscosity, thermal conductivity are found for water, steam and saturated mixtures and surface tension for water. It follows IAPWS publications of 2007 for speed of sound, of 2003 for dynamic viscosity, of 1998 for thermal conductivity and that of 1994 for surface tension.

The property generation covers the low temperature range from 273.15K (0 0C) to 1073.15K (800 0C) in which pressure can vary between 0MPa (0 bara) and 100MPa (1000 bara). The property generation covers the high temperature range from 1073.15K (800 0C) to 2273.15K (2000 0C) in which pressure can vary between 0MPa (0 bara) and 50MPa (500 bara).
The fluid properties in the subcooled or the superheated states are generated by specifying the pressure and temperature.

The saturated fluid properties can be generated by specifying either pressure or temperature within the limits applicable to the saturation line. The saturation line starting from (611.213Pa, 273.15K) and ending at (22.064MPa, 647.096K) defines saturated conditions for property generation.

The documentation and help pages describe technical references and instructions for using the program.
