In this post, I am going to show you how to install Aura - Substratum Theme on Windows PC by using Android App Player such as BlueStacks, LDPlayer, Nox, KOPlayer, ...

Before you start, you will need to download the APK/XAPK installer file, you can find download button on top of this page. Save it to easy-to-find location.

Below you will find a detailed step-by-step guide, but I want to give you a fast overview of how it works. All you need is an emulator that will emulate an Android device on your Windows PC and then you can install applications and use it - you see you're playing it on Android, but this runs not on a smartphone or tablet, it runs on a PC.

Step By Step Guide To Install Aura - Substratum Theme using BlueStacks

  1. Download and Install BlueStacks at: https://www.bluestacks.com. The installation procedure is quite simple. After successful installation, open the Bluestacks emulator. It may take some time to load the Bluestacks app initially. Once it is opened, you should be able to see the Home screen of Bluestacks.
  2. Open the APK/XAPK file: Double-click the APK/XAPK file to launch BlueStacks and install the application. If your APK/XAPK file doesn't automatically open BlueStacks, right-click on it and select Open with... Browse to the BlueStacks. You can also drag-and-drop the APK/XAPK file onto the BlueStacks home screen
  3. Once installed, click "Aura - Substratum Theme" icon on the home screen to start using, it'll work like a charm :D

[Note 2] about Bluetooth: At the moment, support for Bluetooth is not available on BlueStacks. Hence, apps that require control of Bluetooth may not work on BlueStacks.

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
1. Install Substratum app and Aura theme.
2. Open Substratum app, Grant all permissions.
3. Click on the Aura theme navigate to the overlays tab.
4. Select all overlays. There are options for some overlays, select the ones that you want.
*Important For Android 8 users select your android version inside the Settings, SystemUI overlay.
5. Click on the floating action button in the lower right-hand corner and select the "Build & enable" option.
6. Restart phone and/or SystemUI to see all the changes take effect. (Optional)


NOTE
•If you already have a theme applied then before applying Aura theme open Substratum app, open Navigation drawer menu / Select recovery / Click on Restore theme / Disable all enabled overlays.

F.A.Q
Q. My ROM(OMS) on Android 7.1.2 is fully supports Substratum Theme Engine but it's not listed in SUPPORTED ROM in the app description!
A. Aura theme Automagically supports all the ROMs that fully supports Substratum Theme Engine. You can use the Aura theme but there might be some unthemed icons in settings or in notification panel.

Q. Some elements look weird after I applied the theme, what happened?
A. Restart SystemUI if it didn't do so Automagically. Reboot the phone.

Q. Some apps are not responding, force closing after the update!
A. Click on the Aura theme navigate to the overlays tab,
select the app that is giving error. Click on the floating action button in the lower right-hand corner and select the "Build & enable" option.

Q. I'm bootlooping! How do I fix it?
A. Substratum has it's own recovery system called Substratum Rescue System (SRS), which is an automated system that dumps an archive into /Storage/Emulated/0/Substratum/SubstratumRescue.zip. Flash this ZIP in recovery and reboot!
