This app will forward any SMS (text) messages you receive via email (SMTP) - but only if they're still unread after a certain time.

--------

When I'm at work, I'm in front of a computer and may not always have my phone nearby. I don't text a lot, but occasionally I'll get an important text during the day, and it may be hours before I check my phone again.

This app runs on my phone and, if I have not read the incoming text message within a specified time, it will email the text message to me - as I said, I'm in front of a computer most of the day, so I'll be more likely to see it there.

The app ONLY forwards those SMS messages that are still unread after some time - that way, if I'm in an active text conversation with someone, I won't get all those texts via email. If I've read the SMS message soon after receiving it (I set the timeout to 5 minutes, personally), then it won't be sent.

NOTE 1 - this app uses some undocumented API for accessing the read/unread state of SMS messages. I've tested it on some Samsung and HTC phones using the default messaging app, and it seems to work fine. No guarantees that it will work for YOUR phone; if it doesn't, let me know and I can take a look, or in the worst case, just uninstall it!

NOTE 2 - only plain SMS texts will be forwarded, not MMS (picture/video or group texts). Maybe in a later version!

When configuring the app, it will ask for several email parameters:

SMTP Server: This is the "outgoing" email server to use. If you use Gmail and have enabled SMTP connections, for example, this will be smtp.gmail.com

SMTP Username/Password: This is the username/password to use when logging into the SMTP email server. For Gmail, this will be "you@gmail.com" and your Gmail password. If you use Gmail multi-factor authentication, please use an "Application-Specific Password" for this app - see https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833?hl=en for details.

Destination (To:) Email: Where do you want the SMS email to be sent?

Source (From:) Email: From whom do you want the SMS email to appear to be from?

In many (most?) cases, the SMTP Username, Destination Email, and Source Email may all be the same - your email address.

You can send a test email from the configuration page to ensure the email setup is correct.
