Südbaden is a foodie's paradise. Hardly any other region in Germany is praised so often for their cooks and kitchens. The restaurant guide of the Badische Zeitung collects, evaluates and structures this gastronomic landscape in all its diversity. This reliable reference booklet contains independent recommendations on restaurants throughout southern Baden, from the simple guesthouse to the starred restaurant.
 
The BZ restaurant guide of the Badische Zeitung is based on the contents of the book "Der neue Restaurantführer für Südbaden", which was published in 2016 in its fourth edition. Just like the book, the app contains detailed reviews and evaluation results for 209 restaurants in Südbaden (as of January 2017) - from Offenburg and the Ortenau in the north via Freiburg as a regional center, the Kaiserstuhl, the Markgräflerland and the Hochschwarzwald in the east to Lörrach, Rheinfelden and Bad Säckingen in the south. The kitchen, the service, the ambience, the wine offer and the price-performance ratio were tested.
If you load the app, you will receive some restaurants included directly to get a first look at the functions of the BZ restaurant guide. In order to use the full BZ restaurant guide, it is necessary to unlock the current package. To do this, you can select the menu item "Unlock package" in the menu (top right). In the following steps you can then purchase the desired package. This package will then be downloaded directly and you will then have all content available.
 
Subscribers to the Digital Subscriptions of the Badische Zeitung receive the activation of all restaurants within the app for free. Prerequisite is a BZ Digital Basis or BZ Digital Premium subscription (Subscribers to the printed Badische Zeitung receive these digital subscriptions heavily discounted). All others can also download the app for free and pay for the activation 4.99 €.
 
The BZ restaurant guide contains only explicit recommendations. Tested restaurants that critics can not recommend were not included in the restaurant guide. In addition to the comprehensive editorial evaluation of experts, the app provides all the important information that is needed when you are searching for a restaurant with your smartphone: opening times, address, telephone number, website, map display, shopping list, search function and route planning.
 
Thanks to various sorting options, you can have the tested restaurants displayed according to your own individual wishes - for example, sorted alphabetically by name of the restaurant or by location, by distance, by personal favorites or by category. Each restaurant is assigned to one of four coats of arms categories:

• 1 coat of arms = simple rustic kitchen
• 2 coats of arms = traditional inns
• 3 coats of arms = fine cuisine with own creations and seasonally changing menu
• 4 coats of arms = high-class kitchen at star, chef's hat or spoon level
