Incandescent is an open-source alternative to the Lightwave app for devices connected to a Link Plus controller (often referred to as “gen 2”). The goals are:

1. Faster app start times
2. Improved UX, smooth dimming control, explicit on/off buttons for gen1 devices, etc
3. Support customisable moods/scenes across multiple rooms i.e. “Night time”, “Left house”, “Movie night” (work in progress)
4. Integration with Tasker/Locale/other automation apps (work in progress)

Currently it doesn’t support several Lightwave features - device setup, device locking, zone grouping or account settings. You must use the official Lightwave app for these.

It also doesn’t support tagging favourites or the ”Automation” feature. This is a design decision: Favourites are one-dimensional which makes their usefulness limited. Instead, it will offer a different experience by improving the way the zones/rooms are presented, adding scene/mood support and integrating with full-featured automation apps.

It’s been tested on gen2 dimmers and gen1 wall plugs. Although support for other devices is certainly possible; we just need some willing dev with access to the Lightwave hardware.
