KiT is especially for divorced parents and children. By means of a variety of functions, KiT wants to help communicate and arrange practical day-to-day life in two houses. The app exists in two versions: one for parents and one for children & young people. When registering you can indicate whether you are a parent or a child / young person. If you are the first of your separated family to download this app, you will receive a registration code. You can invite your former partner and children to use this app by using the button at the top right of the app. There you enter their email addresses and they are assigned the same registration code so that they can be assigned to the right separated family when registering.

The different functions within the app are the following:

BULLETIN BOARD

On the bulletin board parents and children can post messages and photos that are meant for the whole family. This keeps everyone informed of what is going on in the lives of the other family members

CALENDAR

The calendar is intended for all family members. Everyone can add appointments here, for themselves or for another family member. This way you can easily keep an overview of the residence arrangement, the holiday arrangement, the activities of the children, the doctor's appointments of the children, etc. Everyone's planning becomes clear at a glance.

CHECKLIST

On the checklist, all family members can add items for themselves or for each other into two categories: 'do not forget' and 'I need'. This way you can easily inform each other when certain things should not be lost, such as bringing materials to school, a lunch package for the school trip, taking specific medication, etc. You can even set a deadline here to add. You can also easily deactivate items that have been created.

CHAT

If you want to say something quickly to your other family members, you can do so via the chat function. Here you can start one-on-one chat conversations as well as group conversations.

INFORMATION

Here is all kinds of information about separating and everything that comes with it. Parents find information here about the divorce process, about raising children, about the challenges in a new family. Children and young people find information here to suit them.

KiT is offered to you in a trial version by the Center for Longitudinal and Life Course Studies (CELLO) of the University of Antwerp and PXL-IT of the PXL Hogeschool Limburg. By installing this trial version, you are part of a scientific research of the university. This research examines whether the KiT app contributes to improving communication between divorced parents and children / young people. You will also receive a questionnaire within this app at the start and end of the research. This questionnaire and the use of the app are used by the researchers in an anonymous way to determine the usefulness and the effect of the app. We emphasize that all data are processed anonymously. No one will ever know that you participated in this study. The texts that you enter via chat, bulletin board or checklist when using the app will never be visible to the researchers or other external third parties.
