This app is currently in beta.

This is the first of at least 3 applications in our Mind/Matter 3D project. It deals with the infrastructures essential to Life, Self- and Species-Preservation.

These are the deepest and, in evolutionary terms, the oldest cellular groups and transmission lines always working in the background monitoring both external and internal conditions in health and disease.

We will attempt to cover these areas with fresh ideas, new developments, color aids, animations, videoclips from recognized experts, plus mnemonics to retain these essential elements.

We will often refer you to key areas as we progress in our quest to continuously update the data keeping up with the present explosive period in history dealing with the most complex, yet poorly understood information processing system in the known universe, the human brain.

We organized the app’s building process from the inside out to facilitate the manipulation of the anatomical models; It begins with the ventricular system and ends with the pineal gland. The optic chiasma and a sliver of dura matter, being added just for orientation purposes.

In the Virtual and Augmented Reality formats using these apps, we will begin with the most primitive subsystems to continue, in hierarchical order, to the outer and newer systems known to date.

The second app will deal with the human connectome, the new name for what we always called white matter based on a revolutionary nerve fiber tracking technique, called MR Diffusion Tractography, the only available tool for identifying and measuring these high traffic cerebral turnpikes in vivo and in a non-invasive fashion.

The human connectome fills the spaces in, around and above the subcortical systems presented on this first app. It will be extensively covered in the second app.

Here is a glimpse of the technique: Note how changes in color determine the direction of the fibers in the 3D space.

The third app will deal with the cortex in updated maps, now color coded along standards established on the Atlas of the Human Brain, 4th edition.

A sample of the most densely populated portion of the brain is presented below.
Future updates of the Atlas promise to focus on thalamus, amygdala and hypothalamus and we will attempt to integrate their findings to out 3D project as these 3 systems are intimately related to neuropsychiatry.

Our ultimate goal is to understand its development, protect it during critical stages, optimize functioning and promote non-invading healing practices.

Your support, critical evaluation and new ideas, will be essential to the speed of progress. We are particularly interested in the recent breakthroughs in medical education using digital technology.

We look forward to your feedback.
