Sky is a social hub where everyone creatively interacts with/around music by creating and enjoying mixes while chatting with others live!
To create a mix, you simply think of a pretty descriptive mix title e.g. “Cover/Remix/Refix versions of top R & B songs that sound as awesome/better than the original”, then you add songs related to that mix title of yours to your mix. While playing songs you added to your mix live, others can join in to listen & play songs related to that mix title too in the mix live. While the songs are playing, y'all can also have fun cracking jokes, talking about the live songs etc in the mix’s chat area.
As a listener, you can show love to the DJs in a mix by 'loving' songs they play (that are related to the mix's title) and following them, or otherwise skipping the song when they drift away from the mix title.
As a DJ, you are to play songs that fit the mix's title or listeners would really hate (and skip) your songs. You can detect that via your love rate.
Basically, we at Sky believe that songs are powerful mediums of expression, but this expression can only be well harnessed and made extremely immersive when listened to in certain context(s). With mixes, we give you the platform to create this context & invariably give songs people can relate to a whole new/fresh meaning. It’s like creating new songs except that you’re not in the studio neither are you creating remixes of a song, you are simply creating the right context your audience can easily connect with, then seeding relevant songs into this context.
** for teens, we know y’all love slangs so we built “Sky” for you to be able to speak less while actually saying more. So rather than saying: “I played Taylor Swift’s Red in Ashley’s Mix on Sky”, you can always say “I SkyPlayed Tay’s Red in Ashley’s Mix”. Other slangs are: I “SkyStreamed” Ashley’s Mix, “SkyVaulted” Despacito etc. So you basically “SkyDo stuff”... or for the adults “do stuff on Sky”.
** A tip for influencers on Sky: You can create mixes based on the time of the day e.g. in the morning, you can create a mix to usher your followers into the day, by 5:30am, a mix for shower moments, by noon, a mix to keep the hot afternoon lively, by evening, a mix to calm their nerves in traffic, by night, a mix to usher them to sleep. Every time, you create a mix, your followers get notified, so you’re literally meeting your followers when they need you the most.. throughout the day.
**Influencers are also free to promote songs by adding them to play in mixes. These songs shouldn't suck and must still blend into the mix title though.
** When creating mixes, to make your mix titles more interesting & endearing, avoid using bland titles like: “Cooking songs”, “rap songs”, “summer songs”. Instead of “Summer Songs”, post stuff like: “Party-hard pop songs that’d make summer feel lively”. Don’t go vague & bland, rather, think of mixes like you’re telling a story or initiating a topic/theme around a stream of songs. Simply think of a topic/context e.g.”Making Summer Exciting”, then think of a genre(s)/stream of songs that match the context e.g. “Party-hard songs”. You can also add a few quirks here and there to differentiate your mix from others e.g. “dancehall, afrobeat & afropop songs only” etc.
** As a tip, creating mixes around songs most people are likely to have in their music libraries increase the chances of attracting more DJs (and visitors) to your mix.
Ideas of mixes you can create:
>> Cool Country Songs to Celebrate Easter in Chicago.
>> Awesome Hindi songs to celebrate our 58th Independence in India!
>> Calm R&B jams to wade through the hot afternoon
>> Songs that makes you feel like – “what the hell was this artist thinking?”
>> Reallyyyy awesome 2016 Movie Soundtracks
>> Club Bangerz that rocked every club in Ireland in the early 2000s
>> African songs with funny themes
