This app contains the following calculators that you use can to assess and manage your weight and mortality risk.

Body Fat Percentage:

Although there are a number of different techniques that can accurately determine your percentage of body fat, they can be expensive and inconvenient. This calculator is based on the formulas developed by the Department of Defense (aka U.S Navy Circumference Method). It compares favorably to skin-fold tests. Measurements are taken using a measuring tape. Your results are compared to categories formulated by the American Council on Exercise, World Health Organization and the American College of Sports Medicine.

Body Weight Planner:

Want to lose or gain weight? This calculator may help you to achieve your goal. Specify the period of time in which to achieve your weight goal. The calculator will calculate how many calories you should consume on a daily basis to meet your goal and maintain it. The calculations are based on a model developed by Kevin Hall and a team of researchers at the National Institute of Health. It challenges the commonly held belief that eating 3,500 fewer calories or burning off that equivalent amount through exercise will always result in a pound of weight loss.

Energy Requirements:

The calculator will estimate the average amount of food energy you need daily to balance out your body's expenditure of energy in order to maintain body size and composition at a level of physical activity consistent with long term good health. This calculator uses the Institute of Medicine equations to calculate energy requirements. It covers all age groups, as well as pregnant and nursing mothers.

A Body Shape Index:

Calculates the index of your body shape and estimates your mortality risk. Unlike Body Mass Index or BMI, it takes your waist circumference into consideration and is a better indicator of your mortality risk.

Body Mass Index for Adults:

Calculates your Body Mass Index (BMI) and compares the results to categories formulated by the World Health Organization and National Institute of Health.

Body Mass Index for Child or Teen:

BMI is age and sex specific for children and teenagers and is often referred to as BMI-For-Age. This calculator expresses it as a percentile relative to other children of the same sex and age. These percentiles are calculated from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention growth charts.

Basal Metabolic Rate:

Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the minimum amount of energy your body requires to support the body's autonomic systems such as breathing, digestion, the nervous system, circulation, and regulation of body temperature. It can be used as an estimation of how much energy your body would burn if all you did was rest or sleep in a temperate and neutral environment for an entire 24 hour period of time. This calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation which is a predictive equation derived from statistical data.

Waist-to-Hip Ratio:

Calculates your Waist-to-Hip ratio and charts your risk against a chart formulated by the World Health Organization.
