Bacticount is a tool for identifying and quantifying bacteria and viruses from patient specimens anywhere in the world. Use the Samsung Galaxy S7 or S9 camera to measure a chemical reaction and determine a pathogen diagnosis in under an hour.

Bacticount is a proof of concept application developed for use with smaRT-LAMP reaction protocols, as described in our EBioMedicine publication (https://www.ebiomedicine.com/article/S2352-3964(18)30356-6/fulltext).

FEATURES:
Generate standard curves: Use spiked samples at known concentrations of target pathogens to generate a standard curve in blood, urine, feces, or saliva with your homemade apparatus.

Record sample traces: Collect real-time LAMP reaction traces from blood, urine, feces, or saliva specimens.

Analyze sample data: Instantly analyze sample traces against a standard curve to identify pathogen presence and concentration in each well.

Export traces for further analysis: All LAMP traces are saved to a run file, which can be accessed on a personal computer (as a .csv file) for in-depth analysis of each sample.

Live monitoring of up to 96 samples: Fluorescence signals from up to 96 samples (Galaxy S9) or 36 samples (Galaxy S7) are displayed live during the run for visual and numeric reaction monitoring.

Record LAMP reactions in real-time: The Bacticount app can be used to record any compatible LAMP reaction in real time, and is not limited to pathogen analysis.

NOTES:
Bacticount was developed for Samsung Galaxy S7 and S9 smartphones. Due to camera calibration requirements, Bacticount is not compatible with other phone models at this time.

Fluorescence measurement requires precise, specific calibration for the camera in use and for this proof of concept, the Galaxy S7 and S9 had the desired camera characteristics.
