There was once a young warden who, sent to study Law in Naples, following his natural inclinations more than the family decisions he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts and then at the Faculty of Letters. When choosing the thesis his professor, knowing his origin, he ordered him to study "Art of Theophilus Patini".

While preferring the Impressionists, or contemporaries such as Pollock, he accepted the challenge which led him on a path that would have never abandoned.

That boy is called Cosimo Savastano.

Now it has become the "patinista" most reliable and, above all, has made an essential contribution to the rediscovery of a forgotten painter for years.

Teofilo Patini, born in Castel di Sangro in 1840 (and died in Naples in 1906) is, without doubt, the figure more than others told with love and participation, through his paintings, people and places of our city. He too had been destined by other family studies, but the love and passion for art gave us such works as The heir, Spade and milk, Beasts of burden.

Works that, for the themes and content of the treaties, showing his indignation and his participation in the social dramas of his time.

With the wise and generous Cosimo Savastano guide we have made a small but significant "project" with which we want to bring Patini outside the museum spaces to give it back to people and places that inspired him.

Finally Castellani and tourists can follow the path we created and called "Patini alive in his City", marked by 23 plates installed in the places connected in various ways to many works of the painter.

On each plate, in addition to the reproduction of the work, it is printed a QR-code which, when scanned with a smartphone or tablet, you access to information content of the individual work.
