In this post, I am going to show you how to install CB Remote on Windows PC by using Android App Player such as BlueStacks, LDPlayer, Nox, KOPlayer, ...

Before you start, you will need to download the APK/XAPK installer file, you can find download button on top of this page. Save it to easy-to-find location.

Below you will find a detailed step-by-step guide, but I want to give you a fast overview of how it works. All you need is an emulator that will emulate an Android device on your Windows PC and then you can install applications and use it - you see you're playing it on Android, but this runs not on a smartphone or tablet, it runs on a PC.

Step By Step Guide To Install CB Remote using BlueStacks

  1. Download and Install BlueStacks at: https://www.bluestacks.com. The installation procedure is quite simple. After successful installation, open the Bluestacks emulator. It may take some time to load the Bluestacks app initially. Once it is opened, you should be able to see the Home screen of Bluestacks.
  2. Open the APK/XAPK file: Double-click the APK/XAPK file to launch BlueStacks and install the application. If your APK/XAPK file doesn't automatically open BlueStacks, right-click on it and select Open with... Browse to the BlueStacks. You can also drag-and-drop the APK/XAPK file onto the BlueStacks home screen
  3. Once installed, click "CB Remote" icon on the home screen to start using, it'll work like a charm :D

[Note 2] about Bluetooth: At the moment, support for Bluetooth is not available on BlueStacks. Hence, apps that require control of Bluetooth may not work on BlueStacks.

How to install CB Remote on Windows PC using NoxPlayer

  1. Download & Install NoxPlayer at: https://www.bignox.com. The installation is easy to carry out.
  2. Drag the APK/XAPK file to the NoxPlayer interface and drop it to install
  3. The installation process will take place quickly. After successful installation, you can find "CB Remote" on the home screen of NoxPlayer, just click to open it.

Control supported Canon DSLR Cameras using Bluetooth LE. This app provides features similar to Canon's BR-E1 Bluetooth remote controller.

This app uses Bluetooth LE to connect your phone in remote mode to supported Canon DSLR Cameras.

Features:

1. Trigger instant shutter release.
2. Use headset button to trigger shutter button.
3. Delay timer shutter release.
4. Press and hold AF button.
5. Repeat(Intervalometer) mode (Experimental) - Take specified number of shots with specified interval in between shots.
6. Bulb mode - Take long exposure shots with in camera bulb mode.
7. Video recording mode.


Important Notes:

1. Depending on manufacturer, device settings or other task manager app some android devices may kill long running background services aggressively. Please check device settings. Please test it properly before using repeat, bulb(Auto) or video(auto) feature.
2. This app uses wakelock in repeat, bulb(Auto) and video(auto) mode which will cause battery drain.

Note: This app should work with any Canon camera that supports canon BR-E1 bluetooth remote.


Setup Instructions:
1. Set your camera's bluetooth function to "remote" mode.
2. Clear existing bluetooth paired devices from camera bluetooth settings.
3. Set your camera to bluetooth pairing mode and then select you camera's bluetooth name in the app to pair and connect.
4. Set your camera's "Drive Mode" to "Self-timer/Remote" mode. This will be found in drive mode list along with single, continuous, timer... etc modes.
5. To use bulb mode set camera's shutter speed to "Bulb".
6. Keep camera in one shot mode to use the apps "Repeat" mode.
7. The app can run in background during Repeat, Bulb(Auto) or Video(Auto) modes.
