Blood Choices is regulated in the UK by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and is CE marked for conformance as a medical device.

Blood Choices is based on the 2015 National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance on Blood Transfusion, guidelines from the British Society of Haematology and recommendations from the Advisory Committee for the Safety of Blood, Tissues and Organs.

Blood Choices does not use or collect personal data from patients or users. It uses information taken from recognised guidelines and its presentation is based on patient variables. Blood Choices should not be used as a substitute for professional or medical advice.

Blood Choices has been tested with experts in the field of blood transfusion and ongoing assessments will be made.
