Between pencils and ideas with different visions and writings, fierce battles ensue. Egyptian writer Faraj Fouda (1945-1992) frequently cited his controversial writings.

The idea of ​​the book was based on what Fouda considered to be sins of the rule witnessed by the periods of the Caliphate, adult, Umayyad and Abbasid, and presented a fact that the Islamists sought to conceal from the people and to provide only the bright face of those periods. He also concluded that Islam is a religion, not a state.

The professor of philosophy at Cairo University asks Mabrouk about the meaning of "the absent truth," preferring to say "the truth is absent" because there is someone who has an interest in absenteeism and investing it in gaining profits.

He goes on to say that Foda went to read history to discover that those who lived in that past were neither angels nor divinities of gods, and presented another face that was meant to remain exemplary, but decided to show them their prejudices and conflicts.

The Islamic scholar Wasfi Abu Zeid believes that the book should be replaced by the title to become "illusions present" because most of it has nothing to do with history or reality.

He adds that the book "the truth is absent" included a sarcastic irony through which the historical monuments and companions and a fixed Sunan of the Prophet.

Professor of Islamic History Abdul Rahman Salem believes that the sources upon which Foda is based are al-Tabari, Masoudi, Ibn al-Ather and some modern references. However, the problem is not in the references, but in the fragmentary reading which expounds the context or explains it in a special way away from its spirit.

Many seminars raged between the two streams, one represented by Faraj Foda and the other Islamists. The Al-Azhar Scholars' Front issued a sharp statement accusing Foda of apostasy.

Fodah's thoughts were written on the morning of June 8, 1992, with blood, as the writer of "The Missing Truth" was killed in front of his office by gunmen belonging to the Islamic Group.
