This free Māui Dolphin app makes it easy for boaties, surfers and beach goers to report sightings of the world’s smallest and rarest marine dolphin on the West Coast of New Zealand.

WWF-New Zealand and Alphero teamed up to deliver this beautiful, interactive guide. It helps users identify a Māui dolphin and understand more about this iconic species, while making it easier to report a sighting so that information on their habitat can be collected, and their habitat protected.

Every sighting is valuable to help build a picture of where the dolphins are found and better understand their behaviour.

This information is collected by WWF, and the report is verified by an independent dolphin expert. WWF shares the data with the Department of Conservation (DOC), government and scientists to advocate for full protection for Māui dolphins throughout their entire range.
