Social Media Travel Insurance (SMTI) is a step towards ensuring a journey that is safe and free of anxiety and stress. After signing up through email, Facebook or Twitter, it allows the user to enter the details of the territory they are travelling to. The app then further keeps a track of their location. Moreover, it allows them to save customized messages and up to five emergency contacts. This enables the user to inform their loved ones of any unfortunate or unexpected event in a matter of seconds. With just a click a saved message along with the user’s location is sent to all the emergency contacts and if the app is connected to Twitter and internet a tweet with these details will also be uploaded. Finally, the app has the in-built feature of having the numbers of all the emergency departments of the country the user is in and hence by less than three taps on the screen the ambulance, police or fire brigade can be called.
