Sejarah Majelis Azzahir. Mulanya, Majelis ini didirikan oleh Habib Ali Zainal Abidin Assegaf pada tahun 2004. Setiap hari Jum'at kliwon, majelis ini menyelenggarakan pembacaan maulid Nabi SAW. usai melaksanakan shalat Jum'at bertempat di kediaman beliau Jalan Toba No.53 Pekalongan, Jawa Tengah, yang kini menjadi Sekertariat Majelis Azzahir. Seiring berjalannya waktu, majelis yang tadinya diselenggarakan pada jumat siang ini dirubah menjadi malam Jumat kliwon dan ditambah kajian fiqih serta akhlak sesuai arahan Al-Habib Muhammad Luthfi bin Yahya. Selain majelis rutin yang diselenggarakan pada malam Jum'at kliwon, Majelis Azzahir juga memiliki kegiatan rutin dan safari maulid di beberapa tempat, baik di kabupaten pekalongan, sekitar Provinsi Jawa Tengah, dan kota-kota lainnya.

Setiap tahunnya, Majelis Azzahir juga menyelenggarakan Maulid Akbar dan Haul Al-Habib Seggaf bin Abubakar Assegaf yang dihadiri oleh para pecinta Nabi besar Muhammad SAW. Mulanya majelis ini hanya bernama Majelis Maulid, namun ketika hendak mengadakan Maulid Akbar, maka para jamaah meminta agar beliau Habib Ali Zainal Abidin Assegaf memberi nama majelisnya. Majelis ini pun akhirnya diberi nama Azzahir, sesuai dengan nama Pondok Pesantren ayahnya Beliau di kabupaten probolinggo, Jawa Timur yang diberi nama Azzahir oleh kakek beliau, Al-Habib Abu Bakar bin Muhammad Assegaf. Semoga Allah SWT. memberkahi majelis ini, dan menjadikannya salah satu sarana dalam meneruskan perjuangan Nabi Muhammad SAW.
