Quina is a lottery modality created in 1994 and carried out by Caixa Econômica Federal. The basic principle of Quina is to hit the 5 numbers drawn from the 80 on the wheel, from 01 to 80. The bet can be made with 5, 6 or even 15 numbers, and the maximum prize is won if the 5 numbers are set . There are also cash prizes, albeit minor, for the court hitters (4 numbers), suit (3 numbers) and also 2 numbers. If there is no winner for Quina, the cash prize accumulates for the first prize draw of the next draw, increasing the payoff each time there are no 5-hitters. Sweepstakes are always held at 8:00 pm, Monday through Saturday, except on national holidays. The principle of the game is simple: five different numbers, drawn between 01 and 80 (inclusive), are drawn. Drawings are held in a single globe (a spinning spherical cage). Five (5) balls are drawn from within the cage containing the totality of 80 tens. When the original five dozen are drawn the draw is complete.

Income tax corresponds to 13.8% of all bets. The winners have 90 days to withdraw their prizes, presenting the corresponding ticket in lottery houses (if the prize is up to R $ 1,710.78) or Caixa Econômica Federal agencies (for prizes exceeding R $ 1,710.78). If the 90-day period expires, the prize money will be transferred to the National Treasury and invested in educational programs.

Quina's special draw is Quina de São João, which occurs every year on June 24, except when this day is Sunday. This special draw is very famous for the huge prizes that are raffled and for the fact that the amount destined for the first prize (Quina) does not accumulate if there are no bettors, but it is destined to the next modality of prize, Quadra.
