Mehter or Mehteran, Ottoman Yeniçeri Military Band. It is one of the oldest military bands in the world. It derives from the word "mihter" in Persian. It took place with minor changes in the Turkish states before Islam.

Mehter is the first and the oldest army in the world. Army music seen in the state of the Hun in the Ottoman period was gathered under the Mehter team. The community known as the band, which dates back to the present day, has undergone many evolutions. Mehter attack anthem in the wars of the Ottoman state in the mood to play the music by entering the air was engraved.

The military band tradition of the Turks was found in the first Orkhon inscriptions, called Tug and Kübürge. This band made music for Hakan in wars and special days. It was considered a symbol of domination. The land was sent to the winning men as a symbol of sovereignty. As a matter of fact, the Anatolian Seljuk ruler II. Gıyaseddin Mesud, Osman Gazi for his success because of the powers it gave by sending the fair. The sent Tuğ gave his first concert as ve Tablı Ali-i Osman silah to Osman Gazi and his comrades, and from that date Mehter was established in the Ottoman Empire.
