Instruction on how to install runtime on Windows 10 Windows 11 PC & Laptop
In this post, I am going to show you how to install runtime on Windows PC by using Android App Player such as BlueStacks, LDPlayer, Nox, KOPlayer, ...
Before you start, you will need to download the APK/XAPK installer file, you can find download button on top of this page. Save it to easy-to-find location.
[Note] You can also download older versions of this app on bottom of this page.
Below you will find a detailed step-by-step guide, but I want to give you a fast overview of how it works. All you need is an emulator that will emulate an Android device on your Windows PC and then you can install applications and use it - you see you're playing it on Android, but this runs not on a smartphone or tablet, it runs on a PC.
If this doesn't work on your PC, or you cannot install, comment here and we will help you!
Step By Step Guide To Install runtime using BlueStacks
- Download and Install BlueStacks at: https://www.bluestacks.com. The installation procedure is quite simple. After successful installation, open the Bluestacks emulator. It may take some time to load the Bluestacks app initially. Once it is opened, you should be able to see the Home screen of Bluestacks.
- Open the APK/XAPK file: Double-click the APK/XAPK file to launch BlueStacks and install the application. If your APK/XAPK file doesn't automatically open BlueStacks, right-click on it and select Open with... Browse to the BlueStacks. You can also drag-and-drop the APK/XAPK file onto the BlueStacks home screen
- Once installed, click "runtime" icon on the home screen to start using, it'll work like a charm :D
[Note 1] For better performance and compatibility, choose BlueStacks 5 Nougat 64-bit read more
[Note 2] about Bluetooth: At the moment, support for Bluetooth is not available on BlueStacks. Hence, apps that require control of Bluetooth may not work on BlueStacks.

runtime is my new fitness app to help you improve your running times.
Current features
• 5K projected finish time
• Strava uploads
• High contrast display
• Run tracking up to 5K will always be free
• Free from adverts
runtime will also help your supporters follow your progress in future versions.
If you are an alpha or beta tester then my intention is to offer you all the IAPs for free.
In order to support future development, instead of asking for a subscription, further distance run tracking can be unlocked in the production version by a low cost in app purchase.
I have a number of crowd support features planned for runtime. More details will follow.
Three things inspired me to write runtime. The first was a desire to improve my parkrun 5K time and try to get close to and hopefully beat my parkrun personal best this year.
The second was that I didn’t like the bright, battery draining screens used by some existing fitness apps. My runtime app uses a high contrast, dark background which should be easier to read, especially in poor light and should significantly reduce battery drain.
The third inspiration was around adding crowd support features so your friends can become more involved with your running, whether it is a local parkrun on a Saturday morning or a longer distance event. I’ll give more details in later releases.
I’m really keen to get feedback to ensure that: -
• runtime is stable
• runtime renders nicely and clearly
• runtime accurately predicts your run distance
• the projected finish time is correct
• runtime authenticates to Strava correctly
• you can upload runs to your Strava athlete account successfully
All feedback helps me improve the app.
This is an open alpha and I am expecting a lot of problems, specifically around Strava authorisation as it will be running on devices that I have been unable to test with. If you have trouble with Strava authorisation please feedback, let me know the problem and if possible: -
• the version of Android you are using
• the way you are authorising Strava (email / google / facebook etc.)
Please (for now) do not solely entrust runtime with an important run, please continue to use whatever other method or fitness app you track your running with so you don’t lose any metrics.
If runtime crashes unexpectedly, the app will try and catch the error and prepare it as an email to be sent to me telling me what it was trying to do when it crashed. It would be helpful if you allowed the email to be sent to me so I can take a look into the failure.
The way I reward alpha and beta testers with free IAPs is to save a special value to your device that identifies that install as a tester version. runtime then makes the in app purchase item available to you.
If you ever clear the runtime data in your device’s app settings then this will clear the preferences and you would lose your freebies. If this happens, then please uninstall and then re install a test version of the app from the Play Store.
Again many thanks for testing this, it is really appreciated and I hope you enjoy using runtime.
