Azan history and iqamah
Azan began prescribed in the second year Hijri. Initially, one day the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W gather the friends to deliberate on how to tell the inclusion of prayer time dam invites crowds to gather to the mosque to pray in congregation.
In the deliberations that there are some proposals. There is proposing that the flag was hoisted as a sign of prayer time has come. If the flag had been flown, let those who saw it told the public. There is also proposed that the trumpet is blown as is commonly practiced by adherents of the Jewish religion.
Anything else is suggested that the bells tolled as was done by the Christians. There is a friend who suggested that when prayer time comes, then immediately ignited a fire in a high place where people can easily see to that place, or at least, the smoke could be seen even in the distant places. Who saw the fire, let come to attend congregational prayers.
All the proposals were rejected by the Prophet. But, he swapped it with assalatu pronunciation Jami'ah (let congregational prayers). (KYP3095) Then, there was a proposal of Umar bin Khattab when designated person who acts as the caller Muslims to pray on every prayer time entry. Later this suggestion could be accepted by all people and the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W also approve it.
The origin of the Azan and Iqama
The azan pronunciation derived from the hadith about the origin of the call to prayer and iqamah:
"
Abu Daud related that Abdullah bin Zaid berkata as follows: "When I call the Muslims to prayer discussed, one night in my sleep I dream. I saw that someone was carrying a bell. I approached him and asked him," whether he intends to sell the bell? If so, I asked him to sell me any. "That person actually asked," For what? "I answered," That to ring the bell, we can call upon Muslims to perform prayers. "The man said again," Will you I taught a better way? and I replied, "yes" and he said again with a very loud voice:
Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest
ASYHADU alla ilaha illa
Anna ASYHADU Muhammador Prophet
Hayya 'alash Sholah (2 times)
Hayya 'alal Falah (2 times)
Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest
La ilaha illa
When the next day I woke up, I went to Nabi Muhammad SAW, and told him about the dream to him, then Nabi Muhammad SAW, saying, "It was a dream actually real. Stand beside Bilal and teach him how to pronounce the words. He must azan like that and he has a very loud voice. " Then I will do it together with Bilal. "Apparently, a similar dream also experienced by Umar. He also told the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.
After the bell man who brought it to recite the azan, he paused, then said: "You say if the prayer will be established:
Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest
ASYHADU alla ilaha illa
Anna ASYHADU Muhammadarrasullulah
Hayya 'alash Sholah
Hayya 'alal falah
Qod qomatish Sholah (2 times), meaning "Salat will be established"
Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest
