Kitab Bidayatul Hidayah on Windows Pc

The book "Bidayatul Hidayah" by this great scholar Abu Hamid Muhammad al-Ghazali (d. 1111 AD), is widely touted as the Preamble of Ihya Ulumuddin, his monumental masterpiece.

 

This book discusses the initial process of a servant getting guidance from Allah Ta'ala, where the servant desperately needs help and guidance from Him. It also explains about obstacles (passivity) and obstacles (active) that are scattered around them, namely when the servant tries to get closer to the Creator, through the right procedures and adab.

 

This book outlines three parts. That is the part about the existence of obedience, the part about leaving immorality, and the part about associating with humans. The Creator and fellow beings. According to al-Ghazali, if our hearts are inclined and want to practice what is in this book, then we are including a servant who is illuminated by Allah with the light of faith in the heart.

In the Muqaddimah of Bidayatul Hidayah Book (page 1), Imam Ghazali explains:

فاعلم أيها الحريص المقبل على اقتباس العلم, المظهر من نفسه صدق الرغبة, وفرط التعطش إليه .. أنك إن كنت تقصد بالعلم المنافسة, والمباهاة, والتقدم على الأقران, واستمالة وجوه الناس إليك, وجمع حطام الدنيا; فأنت ساع في هدم دينك, وإهلاك نفسك, وبيع آخرتك بدنياك; فصفقتك خاسرة, وتجارتك بائرة, ومعلمك معين لك على عصيانك, وشريك لك في خسرانك, وهو كبائع سيف لقاطع طريق, كما قال صلى الله عليه وسلم: (من أعان على معصية ولو بشطر كلمة كان شريكا فيها).

Know O people who want to receive knowledge, who really hope and are very thirsty to him, that if you demand knowledge to compete, be proud, defeat your peers, gain people's sympathy, and hope for the world, then indeed you are trying to destroy your religion, destroy yourself, and sell the Hereafter with the world. Thus, you experience failure, your trade loses, and your teacher has helped you to commit immorality and be your ally in that loss. Your teacher is like someone who sells swords for street pirates, like the Messenger of Allah. said, "Who helps in the realization of immoral acts even if only with a word, he has become an ally for him in the act."

وإن كانت نيتك وقصدك, بينك وبين الله تعالى, من طلب العلم: الهداية دون مجرد الرواية; فأبشر; فإن الملائكة تبسط لك أجنحتها إذا مشيت, وحيتان البحر تستغفر لك إذا سعيت. ولكن ينبغي لك أن تعلم, قبل كل شيء, أن الهداية التي هي ثمرة العلم لها بداية ونهاية, وظاهر وباطن, ولا وصول إلى نهايتها إلا بعد إحكام بدايتها, ولا عثور على باطنها إلا بعد الوقوف على ظاهرها.

If your intentions and intentions are in learning to get guidance, not just knowing the history, then cheer up. Surely the angels spread their wings for you as you walked and the whales at sea asked forgiveness for you when you tried. But, you must know in advance that guidance is the fruit of science. Hidayah has the beginning and end as well as the inner and outer aspects. To reach the end point, the start must be neatly arranged. Similarly, to reveal the inner aspects, the aspects of birth must be known in advance.

وهأنا مشير عليك ببداية الهداية; لتجرب بها نفسك, وتمتحن بها قلبك, فإن صادفت قلبك إليها مائلا, ونفسك بها مطاوعة, ولها قابلة; فدونك التطلع إلى النهايات والتغلغل في بحار العلوم.
