In this post, I am going to show you how to install XPlaneRemote on Windows PC by using Android App Player such as BlueStacks, LDPlayer, Nox, KOPlayer, ...

Below you will find a detailed step-by-step guide, but I want to give you a fast overview of how it works. All you need is an emulator that will emulate an Android device on your Windows PC and then you can install applications and use it - you see you're playing it on Android, but this runs not on a smartphone or tablet, it runs on a PC.

Step By Step Guide To Play XPlaneRemote using BlueStacks

Download and Install BlueStacks at: https://www.bluestacks.com. The installation procedure is quite simple. After successful installation, open the Bluestacks emulator. It may take some time to load the Bluestacks app initially. Once it is opened, you should be able to see the Home screen of Bluestacks.
Open the APK/XAPK file: Double-click the APK/XAPK file to launch BlueStacks and install the application. If your APK/XAPK file doesn't automatically open BlueStacks, right-click on it and select Open with... Browse to the BlueStacks. You can also drag-and-drop the APK/XAPK file onto the BlueStacks home screen
Once installed, click "XPlaneRemote" icon on the home screen to start playing, it'll work like a charm :D

[Note 2] about Bluetooth: At the moment, support for Bluetooth is not available on BlueStacks. Hence, apps that require control of Bluetooth may not work on BlueStacks.

XPlaneRemote is an application that shows basic general aviation instrument set on your Android phone or a tablet. This is not a simulator - a copy of X-Plane should be running on your desktop or a laptop - this application connects to it from an Android device and displays the flight instruments, hence the "remote panel" in its name.

With the XPlaneRemote, you can extend your general airplane instrument panel onto an Android device; you can completely close your instrument panel on the X-Plane display and use that extra space for a larger terrain view or simply use it to show different instruments.

To use this application, your device needs to be connected to the same network as the host computer, which most likely already is when you are playing an X-Plane.

Please see the application website for more information on complete installation requirements. This application needs a free package called “Ministro II”. Upon start, it will guide you to install it.

On the PC side, your copy of the X-Plane also needs a custom plugin that communicates with this app. The plugin can be downloaded at the application website.

* It appears fixed on tablet device(s), but reportedly still not quite right on one smaller phone screen factor device. I apologize for that as I am simply unable to reproduce it at this time in spite of trying really hard to chase that. I still don't want to uncheck small-screen devices (thus making the software completely unavailable to them) as it still works in landscape mode on them and has value.
