QuickLearn is a vocabulary trainer that takes into account the user's current context in order to suggest reviewing vocabulary in opportune moments. In so called micro-sessions, users can go through a batch of vocabulary within seconds... while waiting for the bus or standing in line at the supermarket.

We often lack the time, motivation, and resources in order to achieve fluency in a new language. Research has shown that people improve their vocabulary by encountering words repeatedly. Incidental vocabulary learning is a gradual process in which gains are made in small increments.

From time to time, QuickLearn will suggest you to review some vocabulary, mostly through notifications. You can review words directly in the notification bar. If you don't want to wait, you can also proactively launch the app and start learning.

QuickLearn is currently available in 5 languages: English, Spanish, German, French, and Arabic. Learners can choose training translations between either 2 of those languages.

This app is part of a scientific study with the goal of understanding more about situations in which language learning is appropriate and effective. The study is conducted by researchers at the University of Stuttgart. In case you have any questions, feel free to contact us or visit this project's website to find out more about the study and the data collected.

Upon its first launch, the app will once ask for the user's consent and explain the purpose of the study. For being able to make predictions about opportune moments for learning, the app needs to be given access to the accessibility service, notifications, and location.

Thanks for participating! And have lots of fun learning! We are always happy to receive feedback in any form.
