GPS Topo USA turns your Android phone or tablet into a fully functional handheld and automotive GPS. The app includes compete 7.5 minute topographic maps of the entire United States including Alaska and Hawaii and requires no in-app purchases.

GPS Topo USA is designed for use both with and without cellular service. For offline use, both USGS topographic maps, and road maps from the OpenStreetMap project can also be stored locally so you'll always have the maps you need no matter where you travel even.

Waypoints allow you to create, store, annotate and display your own custom destinations on the map, get turn-by-turn driving directions, and use the app's built in field compass for navigating in the wilderness. Use waypoints to store your favorite trailheads, canoe launches, campsites, geocaches, hunting & fishing spots and more.

Each waypoint features a "GO" button that passes its GPS coordinates to your device's Maps app for turn-by-turn driving directions and a "Target" button that enables the Compass's direction of travel indicator to guide you in the field.

The compass features the familiar design of a standard field magnetic compass and includes digital readouts of your current GPS coordinates, altitude above sea level, speed of travel your current compass heading. When you set a "Target" waypoint, the compass adds a standard direction of travel arrow pointing you in the right direction and providing a digital display of the bearing and distance to your waypoint. Just follow the direction arrow and let your compass guide you, counting down the distance to your destination.

We've even included two useful waypoints to help demonstrate the benefits. First, use the "Home" waypoint to store your home's GPS coordinates. Then no matter where you go, use the "GO" button to get driving directions to your home. Second, use the "My Car" waypoint to get you back to where you parked. Whether you are at a trailhead or in a crowded parking lot at the mall, just tap the "Use Current" button to store your vehicle's location. When you need to find your car, open the waypoint and touch the "Target" button. The field compass will then guide you right back to your vehicle.

In addition to the features listed above, GPS Topo USA allows you to display and track you location on Google's road maps, terrain maps, and satellite images however these maps do require cellular service or wifi signal.

NOTE: GPS Topo USA is designed for devices that include a GPS receiver and geomagnetic field sensor. Most but not all Android handset and tablet manufacturers include these sensors in their devices however the accuracy of these components can vary greatly by manufacturer. The function and accuracy of GPS Topo USA is therefore limited by the device's hardware.
